Wax Melts 101

What are Wax Melts?

Wax melts are solid fragranced wax and are completely wick-less. They can be melted in either a tealight warmer or electric tart warmer.

How Are They Made?

They are made with our own signature parasoy blend wax and highly scented with phthalate-free fragrance to fill your home with yummy smells! Every bar is blended, decorated and poured by hand. Every one is unique!

How Do I Use Them?

Place the wax melt pieces in the top of a dry wax warmer - do not add water. Depending on the size of your burner, you may want to place 1-2 pieces in the top dish-like section of a wax warmer. If your wax melt shape is too large, you can cut it into smaller pieces with a butterknife. You can even mix scents! Depending on your wax warmer, either light a tea light candle in the base of the wax warmer and allow the wax to melt or plugin and turn on your electric wax warmer- when melted, a delightful aroma will be released into the room. As the wax heats, the fragrance is released into the air and evaporates (similar to a candle, just without the flame).

You'll know it's time to change the wax once the wax no longer gives off a scent. You have a few choices how to discard the used wax:

  1. Let the wax cool and "pop out" the wax. If it's stubborn and won't come out, you can put the dish in the freezer for a few minutes and it should come right out.
  2. While still warm (be careful it's not too hot!) Remove the dish with the wax and dump the warm wax into the trash (ensure there's something else in the trashcan so it doesn't melt the bag!)
  3. Or my personal favorite: When the wax is still warm, place 1-2 cotton balls into the dish to soak up the wax and discard. You can also save the used cotton balls and reuse them as firestarters!
  4. Remember, don't EVER dump wax down your sink drain.

Then just replace with a new piece! Never mix old wax and new wax- it will dilute the scent.

Please keep the remaining wax melts sealed in its original packaging to keep the fragrance of the residual melts.

What's the difference between a tealight warmer and electric tart warmer?

Electric warmers usually provide a gentler warming than a tealight warmer. This means the fragrance won't be released as quickly so it will last slightly longer, but may not be as strong as using a tealight warmer. It's all personal preference though!

Important Safety Tips for your Wax Melts

Safety first! Place your wax warmer on a safe, stable surface, away from drafts like vents or open windows and anything flammable. It’s also important to keep well out of the reach of children or pets.

Don't forget to extinguish the tea light candle when leaving the room - never leave it unattended or within reach of children or pets.

If purchasing an electric warmer from Dark Blue, please follow ALL included instructions & warnings within the packaging according to the manufacturer.

And a friendly reminder, although wax melts sometimes look good enough to eat, they are NOT for eating. They smell better than they taste, I promise! 😊
